High Throughput Chemical Screening

High Throughput Chemical Screening

In 2003, the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute, Bio21 Australia Ltd and The Victorian Government’s Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD) Science, Technology & Innovation Initiative provided over $4 million of funding to establish The WEHI/Bio21 High Throughput Chemical Screening (HTCS) Facility.

This Facility is rare within Australia and one of a growing number of HTCS groups operating in academic institutions world wide.

The HTCS Facility comprises of state-of-the-art automation systems and a unique library of 100,000 diverse, “lead-like” chemical small molecules.

It is designed to provide maximum flexibility with regard to the types of high throughput assays and assay technologies that can be employed.

The HTCS Facility undertakes drug discovery or chemical biology projects with research groups from supporting Bio21-affiliated Institutes and other Australian academic Institutions and Biotechnology companies.
