WEHI’s board, director, deputy director, scientific and professional services teams guide the organisation’s strategic direction.

Board of directors

Our board is governed by 13 directors, led by Mrs Jane Hemstritch. WEHI's board and key stakeholders appoint board directors. The board is responsible for oversight of the policies, strategic direction and management of the Institute.

Executive

WEHI’s director is assisted in leading the organisation by the deputy director, and scientific and professional services teams. The executive ensures a culture of scientific excellence and integrity, as well as setting scientific and organisation goals.

Patron 

Sir Gustav Nossal was WEHI's director from 1965 to 1996. In this period Sir Gustav was instrumental in expanding our scientific scope and capacity. He continues to be a strong science advocate and supporter of the Institute's research, staff and students in his role of Institute patron.
