Alpha and Omega

The many varying colours of this image show different cells in the fallopian tube. This organ embodies both the alpha and omega of life, crucial for its beginning yet also capable of bringing about its end.
The fallopian tube is essential for the emergence of new life by supporting embryo fertilisation. However, it can also cause significant harm as it is the origin of ovarian cancer, one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths.
Despite its importance, this tissue remains largely unexplored. It consists of different specialised cells, depicted here in various colours, that work together harmoniously.
Unfortunately, some of these cells can mutate and become tumours. Understanding this process is critical to better preventing and treating this deadly disease.
