WEHI – Brighter together

At WEHI, the world’s brightest minds collaborate and innovate to make discoveries so we can all live healthier for longer.

We are a team of dedicated medical researchers, staff and students with a unique vision. We think differently about some of the world’s most important and complex health problems, making transformative discoveries for cancer, infectious and immune diseases, developmental disorders and healthy ageing.

We have been serving the community and making life-changing medical discoveries for more than 100 years.

Our passion for improving lives drives us forward, even when breakthroughs are decades in the making. These are the ingredients that make us special, that can shape scientific thought and improve the health of the community, and make ours a collaborative and energetic place to work.

We are driven by collaboration, curiosity and creativity. We are committed to making a positive difference to the lives of people in Australia and around the world. We are WEHI. We are brighter together.

Making a difference

From day one, collaboration has been in our DNA, combining the brightest research minds from across the globe, remarkable clinicians focused on the health of the community, and the power of philanthropy. That spirit of collaboration has only grown deeper and stronger.

From complex, long-term medical problems to critical health challenges, we shine a light on the most pressing needs of the community.

Blood cancers: our research teams are investigating the cell proteins that drive blood cancer development, and collaborating on drug discovery and clinical trials for new treatments for blood cancers.

Who we are

For WEHI, the community has been our most important partner since the very beginning. It is through our long-term connections and collaborations with generous individuals and organisations that we can undertake vital research and deliver the new treatments, diagnostics and research advances to improve people’s lives.

At WEHI we strive for a workplace that enables people to flourish professionally and personally. Transformative research takes ambition, tenacity and ingenuity – qualities that thrive in the right settings. We work hard to provide an open and responsive culture. We celebrate diversity and inclusivity and have dedicated programs to improve gender equality and contribute towards reconciliation.
